The Number of Consumers Concerned About Food Health Safety Has Reduced
According to the recent Thomson Reuters and NPR Health Poll, the number of consumers who are concerned about food safety has reduced despite the growing quantity of people who are suffering from serious food related diseases.
Thomson Reuters and NPR conducted a monthly poll in order to measure the attitudes and opinions of consumers on the different issues regarding health.
The concern about food safety began in July 2010. The same questions were asked the following year and it shows some changes in the opinions.
The latest survey shows that there were only 57% consumers who are concerned about food safety. It also reveals the there is a decline of 61% from the previous year.
The number of respondents who were infected of serious food illnesses was also doubled. One of the significant factors that caused this food related illnesses is low income. 68% of the respondents who were concerned about food safety earn less than $ 25,000 a year.
These respondents have varied concerns. Some are concerned about the safety of meat, poultry, dairy products and seafood.
Aside from food safety, Thomson Reuters and NPR are also exploring different views that concern vaccines, abortion, generic drugs, food allergies, organic foods and others.
